Accomplishments
- Slippery Rock University’s all-time leader in career coaching wins, Mihalik had a 197-111-4 record in 28 seasons as head coach from 1988 through 2015.
- His Rock teams posted a .638 winning percentage and had 22 winning seasons.
- Coached Slippery Rock teams that won or shared eight Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division titles (1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015).
- Led Slippery Rock to four straight PSAC-Western Division championships (1997 to 2000) and earned three NCAA Division II playoff berths in that span.
- Guided The Rock to the 1998 national semifinals and the 2015 national quarterfinals.
- Overall, Slippery Rock advanced to the NCAA Division II playoffs six times, including consecutive trips from 1997-99 and 2013-15.
- His 1999 team ranked second in the final regular-season poll.

- Joined Slippery Rock football program as a player in 1970 and was a three-year starting quarterback who led the Rock to the PSAC Championship in 1972 and 1973.
- Overall he spent 44 seasons at Slippery Rock as a player, assistant coach and head coach.
- Slippery Rock’s home stadium bears his name as Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
- Born in Colver, Mihalik grew up in Ebensburg and graduated from Bishop Carroll High School.
