The five-member Cambria County Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2014 will be inducted during a banquet at the Frank J. Pasquerilla Conference Center on July 12.
The event begins with a social hour at 6 p.m. and the banquet is set to follow at 7.
The Class of 2014 includes: Leah Hollis (women’s volleyball); Ed Johnston (hockey); John Kasay Sr. (football); Randy Mazey (baseball); and Tom McGough (baseball).
Class of 1990 inductee Carlton Haselrig will have the sport of football added to his Hall of Fame credentials. Haselrig was inducted as a six-time national champion wrestler in 1990, before his All Pro NFL career with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Cambria County Hall of Fame also will recognize the All American Amateur Baseball Association, which will host the 70th annual AAABA Tournament in Johnstown and the surrounding region in August.
The Hall also will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the 1994 Bishop McCort High School hockey state championship team and the Pennsylvania Cup-winning squads in 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1999.
The Richland High School girls volleyball program’s 30th anniversary of its 1984 state championship also will be recognized, as well as the Rams’ successful title defense in 1984-85. Richland won the 1984 spring state championship. The next academic year, the PIAA changed volleyball to a fall sport, and the Lady Rams also won in the fall of 1984, giving Richland two state titles in one calendar year.
The Forest Hills High School 1994 football team was the first from the region to advance to the state championship game. The Hall will honor the Rangers’ state runner-up squad.
