- Ascended from back-up quarterback to Super Bowl hero with the New York Giants in 1990.
- Conemaugh Township High School graduate completed 20 of 32 passes for 222 yards and one touchdown in the Giants’ stunning 20-19 victory over the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl XXV at Tampa, Fla.
- New York Giants’ third-round selection in the 1984 NFL Draft.
- Part of two Giants Super Bowl-winning teams.
- Spent more than six seasons as Phil Simms’ backup until a late-season injury to Simms in 1990.
- Started the final three regular-season games and finished the season 6-0, including three playoff wins and a Super Bowl title.

- In 152 career games from 1985 through 1997, completed 1,357 of 2,338 passes for 16,430 yards, 94 touchdowns and 71 interceptions.
- Went 4-1 in the playoffs, going 3-0 with New York in 1990 and 1-1 with the Raiders in 1993.
- Led West Virginia University to consecutive 9-3 records and bowl game appearances.
- Selected as Amateur Athlete of the Year (1983) by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association.
- Passed for 4,261 passing yards and 26 touchdowns in two seasons at West Virginia University

- Finished seventh in the 1983 Heisman Trophy balloting and played in both the Hula Bowl and Japan Bowl all-star games.
