The Cambria County Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2016 and three area high school championship programs were honored during the July 9 banquet at the Pasquerilla Conference Center.
A crowd of 300 attended the event, which inducted John Goettlicher, Karlee McQuillen, Samantha Pollino, the late Gen. George B. Simler, Geroy Simon and Evan Slonac.
Teams honored included the 1986 Johnstown Vo-Tech 13-0 District 6 Class AAAA championship football team; the 2004-05 and 2005-06 Westmont Hilltop two-time state runner-up girls basketball team; and the 2005-06 Conemaugh Valley state runner-up girls basketball team.
