Joe Shorto spent 30 years as the club professional at Sunnehanna Country Club and was part of the elite Sunnehanna Amateur Tournament for Champions from 1982 until his retirement in 2012.

Shorto remains the club professional emeritus at Sunnehanna.

Throughout his time as the club pro, Shorto interacted with some of the greatest names in amateur golf – future PGA stars such as Tiger Woods, Rickie Fowler and Scott Verplank as well as well-known mid-amateurs such as Jay Sigel and Allen Doyle.

Shorto will join a highly-regarded group of golfers in the Cambria County Sports Hall of Fame such as his mentor John Goettlicher (Class of 2016), good friend William Crooks (Class of 2008), Charles Kunkle (Class of 1965), Frank Kiraly (Class of 1978), Bert Battel (Class of 1998) and William Price (Class of 2004).
