Accomplishments

Bo Bassett became the youngest world champion in history after the then-14-year-old captured the 2021 17-Under World Championship in Budapest, Hungary.

Bo Bassett pinned Russia’s Alikhan Ashinov to capture the 45-kilogram freestyle title at the Cadet World Wrestling Championships in July 2021. Then a young student at Bishop McCort Catholic, Bo Bassett breezed through the world championships, pinning three of his foes and scoring a technical fall over the other one.

Bo Bassett trailed early in each of his bouts, but that wasn’t a problem. Including his 4-0 performance at the Pan-American Cadet Championships, where he won gold in freestyle and Greco-Roman, Bassett had an 8-0 and won each bout via technical fall or pin during his 2021 run.

Bo Bassett, who in 2026 became a three-time PIAA Class 2A champion with a 170-0 career record at Bishop McCort Catholic High School. He produced the most career wins by an undefeated wrestler in PIAA history.

He  also placed third in the 2024 Under-20 World Championships in Pontevedra, Spain.

A NCAA Division I commit to Virginia Tech, Bo Bassett also enjoyed success in the Real American Freestyle 03, 05 and 07 wrestling competitions.
