Steve Molnar wins the Johnstown Marathon.

Accomplishments

  • Richland High graduate participated in 10 Boston Marathons.
  • Three-time winner of the Johnstown Marathon when that event attracted some of the nation’s top distance runners.
  • Finished 10th in a field of 10,000 entries in the 1982 Great Race in Pittsburgh.
  • Ran the 1983 Boston Marathon in 2:16.42 and that time qualified him for a U.S. Olympic Team trial in Buffalo.
  • Won the first Johnstown Marathon in 1975, and won again in 1980, 1985.
  • Set Johnstown Marathon record time of 2:22.54 in 1985.
  • Ran his first Boston Marathon in 1968.
  • Won the Pittsburgh Hibernian Marathon and Golden Triangle 13-mile run, both in 1975.
  • Ran in six New York Marathons.
  • Won the Maryland Marathon in Baltimore in 1976.
  • Was part of three-man team to win the National AAU 50-mile race in New York in 1976.
