Accomplishments

  • Known as “The First Cincinnati Bengal,” acquired as the team’s first AFL player in December 1967 from the Miami Dolphins for two draft picks.
  • Bishop McCort graduate, Stofa had a standout career as a quarterback at the University of Buffalo but wasn’t drafted.
  • Played minor pro for Daytona Beach in 1964 and 1965 and was signed as a free agent by the AFL’s Miami Dolphins in 1965.
  • Played six years as a professional in the AFL, NFL and World Football League.
  • Played for Miami (1966, 1967, 1969, 1970) and Cincinnati (1968). Traded to Denver in 1971 but never played because of a shoulder injury.
  • Career numbers included 1,758 passing yards, 12 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
