The Cambria County Sports Hall of Fame welcomed the Class of 2018 during an often emotional and inspirational banquet in front of nearly 250 people at the Frank J. Pasquerilla Conference Center on July 7.

The Hall welcomed: Maebeth (Schalles) Altman (women’s basketball); Dana Heinze (hockey); Chris Peduzzi (football); LaRod Stephens-Howling (football); Chris Stewart (hockey); and Fran Urban (football).

The CCSHOF also honored two state runner-up girls basketball programs on the 30th anniversary of their silver medal performances. The 1988 PIAA Class A runner-up Ferndale Area High School team, which included (Schalles) Altman, and the ’88 PIAA Class AA runner-up Bishop McCort High School team were in the spotlight.

Also recognized was Bishop McCort Catholic High School wrestler Anthony Walters, who this past season went 35-0 and won the PIAA Class AA state championship at 220 pounds as a senior.
