Accomplishments

  • Native of Surrey, England, brought his vast knowledge of the game of golf to Johnstown in 1920.
  • Spent 29 years teaching and playing the game in the region.
  • Charter member of the Professional Golf Association (PGA).
  • Appeared on the original list of 35 charter golf professionals who met on Jan. 16, 1916 to form the PGA.
  • Served as golf pro at Sunnehanna Country Club from 1920 to 1937.
  • Served as golf pro at North Fork Country Club from 1937 to 1938.
  • Was golf pro at Berkley Hills from 1938 to 1948 and managed the club from 1943 to 1948.
  • A lifetime member of the National Golf Association, a member of the Tri-State PGA and a golf pro for 44 years.
  • Served as golf pro at the Flushing (Long Island) Golf Club from 1913 to 1919.
  • Was an apprentice at the Sunningdale Club, also known as the Royal Golf Course in England from 1904 to 1912.
