Accomplishments

  • Inducted to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame’s Pennsylvania Chapter in 2007.
  • Officiated 19 PIAA championships, six NCAA Division II national championships and numerous Division I and II regional tournaments.
  • Became a member of the Student Affairs staff at Pitt-Johnstown in 1972 and with support from the administration at UPJ, he started the wrestling program.
  • Coached UPJ’s first All-American in any sport in 1975.
  • Served as an official for 40 years through 2013, working high school and college matches.
  • Honored multiple times for his efforts to recruit and train officials in order to improve the quality of officiating in wrestling.
  • His Mat Sense Officials’ Clinics have been devoted to the training of wrestling officials.
  • Haselrig had a successful wrestling career at Johnstown High School and IUP before getting into coaching.
  • Officiating career led Haselrig to oversee matches from the pee wee level to state tournaments to NCAA championships.
  • Served as the wrestling rules interpreter for District 6 for nearly 30 years.
  • Serves as President of the NCAA Eastern Wrestling League Officials Association.
