Accomplishments
- Certified Athletic Trainer for the Pittsburgh Penguins has been part of four Stanley Cup championship teams.
- Joined the Penguins in 2006-07 and earned Stanley Cup rings in 2009, 2016 and 2017.
- Formerly on the athletic training with the Carolina Hurricanes and was part of the 2006 Stanley Cup run.
- Had his start with the Johnstown Chiefs in the East Coast Hockey League as part of the staff at Western Pa. Sports Medicine.
- Spent 9 ½ seasons with his hometown Chiefs before earning a promotion as associate athletic trainer of the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League during the NHL lockout season in 2004-05.
- When the NHL returned to action the next season, Stewart was a rookie in the league and part of the Carolina Hurricanes’ run to the Stanley Cup in 2005-06.
- The next season he joined the Penguins staff and eventually worked in his 1,000th professional game in 2009, worked his 1,500th in March 2016, and is closing in on the 2,000-game milestone.
- Greater Johnstown High School graduate played on the 1988 Keystone Conference championship football team that advanced to the WPIAL semifinal round and went 11-1.
- Earned his degree and master’s degree at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and worked with NCAA Division II finalist IUP football team.
- Played a significant role in helping his hometown earn the inaugural Kraft Hockeyville USA title in 2015.
