Accomplishments

  • Scored 2,240 points at Portage High School.
  • Scored 977 points in his senior year at Portage.
  • Was named an Associated Press All-Pennsylvania selection.
  • Attended Wake Forest University and was three-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
  • Was ACC Player of the Year twice.
  • MVP in the NCAA Eastern Regionals in 1961 and 1962.
  • First-team All-American selection in 1961 and 1962 by the Basketball Writers of America, the Associated Press and Newspaper Enterprise Association.
  • Set a three-year scoring record of 2,165 at Wake Forest.
  • First-round NBA Draft pick of the Syracuse Nationals, fourth overall, in the 1962.
  • Played 591 NBA games and scored 5,621 career points.
