Accomplishments

  • Emerged as one of the most well-known tri-athletes — swimming, cycling and running — on the national and international level.
  • Moved to Johnstown in 1985, just as her career as an Ironman triathlete was beginning to take off.
  •   Included in Sports Illustrated renown “Faces in the Crowd” feature, December 2, 1996 issue.
  • Recognized for finishing her 11th Ironman Triathlon World Championship by winning the age 50-54 category in 11:11:19 — 80 minutes ahead of the runner-up.
  • Broke her age-group record by 42 minutes, a mark that stood until 2005.
  •   Raced 125cc grand prix motorcycles in California before she took up running and then triathlons at age 35.
  • At age 39 in 1984, competed in her first Ironman Hawaii and finished eighth in her age group.
  • Won the age 40-44 in 1986, 1988 and 1990.
  • Won the 45-49 age group in 1991, 1993, 1994 and 1995.
  • Set a lifetime PR and age group mark of 10:58:15 in 1993.
  • Competed throughout the United States as well as Japan and France.
