Accomplishments
- Helped make the Sunnehanna Amateur Tournament for Champions a national event that attracted many of golf’s future stars such as Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Scott Verplank, Ben Crenshaw, Phil Mickelson, Jay Sigel and Allen Doyle.
- Served as Chairman of the Sunnehanna Amateur from 1969 to 1997 and was co-chairman in 1967 and 1968.
- Sought the best amateur players in the country and offered invitations to only those who deserved to be in the elite event.
- High standards made Sunnehanna a destination that top players wanted to visit each June.
- Oversaw the tournament committee and helped with housing for the many players from throughout the country.
- Was a golf ambassador who frequently kept in touch with former Sunnehanna Amateur players who went on to success on the PGA Tour.
- The Golf Journal recognized Price in 1996 for his contributions to amateur golf.
